THE ST. MARGARET’S BAY BOYS HONOUR CHOIR will be present to perform at a special service celebrating young people at the 10:30 am service next Sunday, May 1st. This choir has competed and won distinction at competitions around the province. The service itself, a form of morning prayer, will be led by young people from our parish. Do plan to come out to experience this outstanding musical gift and to support our youth as they take a leadership role in leading us in prayer. Light refreshments will follow the service.
PROPERTY COMMITTEE – The Property Committee is having their annual spring yard cleanup and we need your help. The church property and cemetery receives an annual raking, leveling, trimming, cleaning, and general tidy up on the same day as the Yard Sale. If you are able to help out for a couple of hours starting at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 30, it would be greatly appreciated. Bring your wheelbarrow and your rake, and we look forward to seeing you there.
COUNTRY MUSIC SHOW – St. Andrew’s Country Music Show will be held on May 1st at 7 pm featuring Jim Richard (aka Johnny Cash), Ali McNeil, Buddy Boutilier and many others. For advance tickets call Rev. Judie at 446-0229 or 452-0756.

THE PRIMATES WORLD RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT FUND is accepting donations for the relief effort in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami. The Anglican Church has a significant presence in Japan. If you wish to make a contribution, there are PWRDF envelopes at the back of the church. You may also put you donation in a plain envelope with you name, address and church envelope number on it. Please place your donations on the collection plate. Thank you.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group is looking for volunteers to help make sandwiches or sweets for catering events that take place during the year such as funerals, lunches after special services, etc. We are also looking for help with funerals, such as setting up, serving and cleaning up afterwards. Most funerals are on week days and a lot of our members still work outside the home so it is not always possible to get enough people to work. If you are interested in helping on an on call basis, please put your name and phone number on the poster at the back of the church and indicate what you would like to help with. Thank you.
ITALIAN SUPPER AND AUCTION – On Saturday, May 14, 2011, the Ways and Means Committee will be hosting an Italian Supper (salad, spaghetti, wine and dessert), that will include a silent auction as well as entertainment. Tickets will be pre-sold at $25.00 each. To purchase a ticket, please contact Darlene Martell (darlenemartell@eastlink.ca) at 876-1795 or Jo-Anne Rector (joian@ns.sympatico.ca) at 443-0633. We are also looking for items for our auction. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.
SIDES PERSONS – We are looking for people to volunteer as sides persons. A sides person hands out the books and bulletins and greets the people as they arrive for church. They take up the offertory and after church; they stay and count the offering. If this is a job you would like to do, please contact Brenda Morash at 876-2389. The more volunteers we have the fewer times your name will appear on the roster.
CRAFTER’S MARKET – On Saturday, November 5th, the Ways and Means Committee will be having a Crafter’s Market. Anyone who would like to rent a table to sell their crafts, please contact Darlene at 876-1795 or Jo-Anne at 443-0633.
ONGOING NOTICES
RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received. Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office. There are twenty-four spaces for memorials. Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque. If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie. Thank you for your generosity
PWRDF; There are memorial cards for the Primates Fund on the table at the back of the church. They are self explanatory and a worthwhile way of remembering friends or relatives as this fund assists people around the world.
CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS AND POSTAGE STAMPS -Thank you to those who continue to drop off labels and stamps. To those who have not yet contributed: the labels must be complete (with no Scotch tape or staples), and stamps need to have a least ¼” of envelope around them. We have recently received many stamps from foreign countries – the US, UK, Australia, etc. – which are most welcome; please keep them coming. Sale of the stamps supports the Bible Society, while the soup labels provide amenities for Landmark East in the Valley. Our stamps and labels are taken to the ACW office and they distribute them.
FOOD BANK – The St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Food Bank is always in need of canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, peanut butter, jam, crackers and pudding. They are currently running short on the following food items: boxes of cereal, cookies, and jello. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
