BULLETIN BOARD
MESSAGE FROM PRIMATE - Our Primate, Archbishop Fred Hiltz, asks that we pray for a ceasefire to end the violence in the Middle East. Pray for all who have died and all who mourn. Pray for the injured and those who tend them in hospitals and clinics that are under the continuing threat of bombing. Pray for world leaders who offer counsel in negotiating a settlement to this current crisis and in securing a lasting peace for all Palestinians and Israelis.
“Violence shall no more be heard in your land.” Isaiah 60:18
Bishop Suheil Dawani of Jerusalem has issued an urgent appeal for help. There are shortages in medicines, fuel and food. The Arab Hospital in Gaza City (owned and operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem) is exceeding its capacity to meet this humanitarian crisis. Donations can be made to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. They work with ACT Alliance (Action by Churches Together) to help provide support for those wounded and displaced in this ongoing siege.
FOOD BANK - Sunday, July 20, was the last week that food should have been brought in for the food bank. St. Marguerite Bourgeoys will not be accepting food items after that. If people would still like to contribute to their food bank, they will be accepting gift cards to the Atlantic Superstore or B and J's Country market in Timberlea only. No cash or cheques please. You are to put the gift cards in the collection plate in an envelope with the name St Marguerite Bourgeoys on it. Thank you.
PRE-AUTHORIZED REMITTANCES (PAR) – For those parishioners who may be interested, we offer the option of supporting your church by way of pre-authorized remittances. Once enrolled in the program, the amount selected by you is automatically transferred from your bank account on the 1st or15th of each month. Your contribution is deposited to the St. Andrew’s bank account. This program is administered by the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. For further information please contact the Parish Treasurer, Bev Higgins at 876-7240 or email: bev.higgins@iwk.nshealth.ca.
