NEW NOTICES

MISSION TO SEAFARERS – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group would like to thank all those who contributed to the Shoebox Campaign this year.  Your help is gratefully appreciated not only by the Ladies of the group but by the recipients of these boxes.

WHITE GIFT SUNDAYWhite Gift Sunday will be held on December 4th and Parish Council has agreed to support the Feed Nova Scotia Christmas Turkey Fund as part of White Gift Sunday.  We are asking Parish Members to make a monetary donation toward this.  The goal is $250 and if the congregation does not reach this amount, council will top it up.  Donations may be put in the offertory plate in an envelope marked Turkey Fund with your name and envelope number for tax receipts.  Cheques should be made out to St. Andrew’s Church.

FLOWERS FOR CHRISTMAS – All those who wish to place memorial flowers in the church for Christmas, please give the information to Wendy by December 18, 2011 if you want it printed in the bulletin.

PHOENIX HOUSE – The Outreach Committee will be collecting for Phoenix House Youth again this year.  A basket will be placed in the back of church for donations on November 13.  Items they are looking for include the following:  bus tickets, stocking stuffers such as shampoo, hand cream, razors, chap stick, socks, mitts, coffee shop certificates in small amounts, etc.  They are also looking for personal care items, blankets, jackets, socks, underwear as well as baby items such as diapers, wipes, toys, baby food and children’s books.  These are just suggestions.  Anything donated will be greatly appreciated.

PARISH COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING – All reports for the Annual General Meeting to be held on January 29, 2012, are to be submitted to Renee Fraser on or before January 15, 2012.  Email:  reneesbits@aol.com.

HOLY MANNERSSt. Andrew’s adopts a new covenant.  On Sept 8, 2011, the Parish Council adopted “Holy Manners”, an agreement or covenant about how we work together as leaders in the parish.  It sets out a tone and style for working together in groups and for communicating among ourselves.  The covenant encourages everyone to act politely, in a thoughtful manner, and to contribute with a positive and Christian attitude.  The Holy Manners idea originated with Bishop Sue Moxley, who suggested that parishes consider adopting it as a way to guide volunteers who step forward to assist with the many activities that sustain a parish.  St. Andrew’s was very eager to establish the covenant.
The covenant is just over two pages long, and copies are available at the back of the church for anyone who would like to take a copy home.

CHURCH CALENDARS – The Church Calendars are in.  Please see Wendy if you would like to purchase one or more.  They sell for $5 each and make great gifts for Christmas or other occasions.  You can also call Wendy at 443-4630 to reserve yours so you won’t be disappointed.

PWRDF – Many thanks for your generous contributions to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund during 2011.  You are helping to “make a world of difference”.  The Christmas Season brings us a message of hope, peace, joy and love as we celebrate the birth of the Christ Child.  We can share this message with people and communities around the globe through our support of the ministries of the PWRDF.  There are envelopes on the table at the back of the church should you wish to make a gift to PWRDF this Christmas.
Also there are placemats with PWRDF-related activities on them.  They are on the shelf under the table.

SIDES PERSONS – We are looking for people to volunteer as sides persons.  A sides person hands out the books and bulletins and greets the people as they arrive for church.  They take up the offertory and after church; they stay and count the offering.  If this is a job you would like to do, please contact Brenda Morash at 876-2389The more volunteers we have the fewer times your name will appear on the roster.

RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received.  Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office.  There are twenty-four spaces for memorials.  Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque.  If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie.  Thank you for your generosity
