BULLETIN BOARD
NEW NOTICES

FLOWER MEMORIALS –  All those who want to place flowers in the church for Christmas or give donations through the Flower Fund, please make sure that all information in regards to these memorials is given to Wendy by no later than December 20th.  All Christmas bulletins will be printed on December 21st.  If you miss the deadline, your loved one’s name will be printed in the first bulletin after Christmas.

KIDS CHRISTMAS SHOPPING DAY – On December 15th, St. Andrew’s Parish Council will host a shopping day for children.  This will take place in the church hall from 10-12 noon.  There will be tables of items for $5 or less that the children will be able to purchase for gifts for their families and friends.  Have your child’s picture taken with Santa and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a snack while your child shops!

PARISH COUNCIL – Parish Council will have their regular meeting next Sunday, December 16th following the morning service.  Please remember to bring your lunch.

PHOENIX HOUSE CHRISTMAS WISH LIST – The Outreach Committee will be collecting items for Phoenix House for Christmas again this year.  A collection box has been placed at the back of the church by the font.  Some items they are looking for are:  personal items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, razors and shaving cream, etc.  They can also use bus tickets, gift certificates for grocery stores, clothing stores, coffee shops, etc.  Other items such as mittens, scarves, hats, socks and diapers for babies are most welcome.  A complete wish list has been posted on the wall above the collection box for more ideas.  If you require more information, please contact Lorraine MacLellan at 876-7456.

HOUSE FIRE – Recently there was a devastating house fire in a Timberlea neighbourhood.  Ellery and Anita Oicle of Parkdale Subdivision lost their home, their pets and all their possessions.  Fortunately they were both unhurt.  The Parish of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys is providing opportunity for parishioners and members of the community to help out in this time of need.
A gift card “tree” has been put together at Sacred Heart Church, 1714 St. Margaret’s Bay Road.  Cards can be dropped off at the parish office during the day, before the 15th of December.

BIBLE STUDY- The Bible Study Fellowship Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, 2 pm – 3:30 pm.  The Letter to the Ephesians will be the focus of our study, beginning on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.  Make Bible Study one of your priority New Year Resolutions.  Rev Ron will be very pleased to see you!

CHURCH CALENDARSChurch calendars are available for the low price of $5.  These are being sold through St. Andrew’s Ladies Group again.  We have ordered fewer calendars this year than in the past, so if you wish to purchase one, please see Wendy any Sunday after Church or call 443-4630 and leave a message

STORM POLICY – The following procedures will be implemented whenever inclement weather threatens the cancellation of church services:

  1. The Rector will call the wardens early morning to discuss the situation.  If all agree to cancel services, the Rector and wardens will act as follows.
  2. The Rector will install an announcement on the parish telephone voice message system.
  3. One warden will advise the radio station to make the announcement.
  4. The other warden will put the message on the parish web site.

Common sense will prevail, and parishioners are advised not to venture out on dangerous roads.  If it is not completely obvious that services would be cancelled, then parishioners can employ any or all of the above noted methods to discover whether or not services are cancelled.
*This policy was approved by council on March 8, 2012.

SCENT SENSITIVITY:  Just a reminder that NO SCENTS make GOOD SENSE!  Please be considerate of those in our congregation who have allergies and asthma.  Thank you.

ONGOING NOTICES

PWRDF – The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund acts on behalf of the Anglican Church of Canada to provide people around the globe with the ways and means to “help them help themselves”. Information and envelopes are available at the back of the church should you wish to contribute to this worthy ministry.

RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received.  Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office.  There are twenty-four spaces for memorials.  Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque.  If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie.  Thank you for your generosity

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS AND POSTAGE STAMPS – Thank you for your continuing support of two ACW projects:  Postage stamps and Campbell’s soup labels.  The requirement for stamps have been changed:  They no longer have to have ¼” margin of envelope around them; simply tear most of the envelope away, being careful not to tear the stamp.  The soup labels have to be complete and in one piece; that is, with no staples or Scotch tape.
PLEASE NOTE:  A number of soup labels, and two grocery bags full of stamps, were recently turned in to the ACW office.  Thank you, and please remember to save the stamps that arrive on Christmas cards which will soon be arriving in our mail boxes!

FOOD BANK – The St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Food Bank is always in need of canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, peanut butter, jam, crackers and pudding.  They are currently running short on the following food items:  boxes of cereal, cookies, and jello. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
