Heart and Stroke – Jinny Giza, volunteer Captain for 4 Glengarry, thanks all who canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and all who gave so generously in Feb.  $1,587.75 was collected in our zone which was our best result ever.

Bluegrass Gospel Concert – Sunday, March 20 at 7:00 pm, William Black United Church in Glen Margaret, featuring the Glen Margaret “Country Side of Bluegrass” Group and Guests:  Eric Pace, Tanya Acorn, Ken Rozee, Fred Hubley, Paul Cumming and Wayne Redmond playing old and new bluegrass gospel and bluegrass songs.  A reception will be held afterward in the church hall.  A freewill offering will be received for the Joanne Hubley Benefit and the Children’s Wish Foundation.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION ALLIANCE – Are you concerned about Biblical truth in the Anglican Church?  Then, please join us, the Anglican Communion Alliance (formerly Essentials NS) on Sunday, March 20th at 4 pm at Trinity Church, 321 Main Ave.  Guest Speakers:  Rev. Stephen Ashton and Roger Bureau.

MEN’S BREAKFAST – The next Men’s Breakfast will be held on March 26th at 8:00 am.  We are looking for three people to help set up at 7:00 am and four people to help clean up after the breakfast is over.  You can contact Don by email: puppadon@hotmail.com or by phone: 431-4047, if you are able to help in any way.

LENTEN QUIET DAY“I AM THE VINE; YOU ARE THE BRANCHES” The NS Board of Anglican Church Women and the ACW Branch of St. Francis By The Lakes will host a Lenten Quiet Day for all women at St. Francis on Saturday, March 26, 2011.  Reflections will be given by students from the Atlantic School of Theology.  The Homilist at the 2:00 pm service of Holy Eucharist will be Bishop Sue Moxley.  Registration will begin at 9:30 am  Program to begin at 10:00 am.  Cost for the lunch - $8.00.  To register, by March 18th, contact Beverly Scammell at 865-0434 or email her at bill.scammell@ns.sympatico.ca.  It is not necessary to be a member of an ACW unit to attend the Lenten Quiet Day.  All are welcome.

WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE NEWS – The Committee will be hosting Gospel Singers in the Church on March 26 at 6:30 pm.  Tea, coffee, sandwiches and sweets will be served.  A free will offering will be collected.
The Committee is looking for items for an Auction.  Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.

MARK THIS IMPORTANT DATE:  The Acts Theatre Society: Ministry of Drama, New Glasgow, directed by playwright, George Henaut, will present A Celebration of Faith, a drama in three acts with music, on Saturday, April 2, 10:30 am – 3 pm, at St. Andrew’s Church.  Lunch will be provided.  Do plan to make this very special day a vital part of your Lenten devotion.  A great day of blessing awaits us!

BIBLE STUDY GROUP – The Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon Bible Study Fellowship Groups will begin a study of John’s Gospel, chapters 17-21, and related parallel passages in Matthew, Mark and Luke.  The Monday group will meet on March 7 and 21; the Tuesday group on March 1, 15 and 29.  Rev. Ron will be very pleased to see you!

BLT OUTREACH PROGRAM – BLT School Outreach “Grab & Go” Breakfast Bucket will be available for donations on Sunday, March 27th.  Marilyn 876-7300

ONGOING NOTICES

RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received.  Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office.  There are twenty-four spaces for memorials.  Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque.  If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie.  Thank you for your generosity

PWRDF; There are memorial cards for the Primates Fund on the table at the back of the church.  They are self explanatory and a worthwhile way of remembering friends or relatives as this fund assists people around the world.

Soup Labels and Postage Stamps:  Thank you for your continuing support.  Soup Labels must be whole, and Stamps have a least ¼” of envelope around them. We delivered 460 soup labels and almost 2 pounds of stamps to the ACW office in December, 2010.

FOOD BANK – The St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Food Bank is always in need of canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, peanut butter, jam, crackers and pudding.  Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
