NEW NOTICES

PARISH COUNCIL – Parish Council will meet this Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Room.  All members are urged to attend.

BREAKFAST BUCKET – Thank you for your generous contributions to the BLT School Breakfast Program.  The Breakfast Bucket contained $121.20 for the month of October.

ALTAR GUILD -  The Altar Guild is looking for some new members.  If anyone is interested in joining the guild or would like more information please contact Beth Foote at 876-2164.  This is a very rewarding ministry. 

3RD ANNUAL CRAFT SHOW –Don’t miss the 3RD Annual Craft Market, being held on Saturday, November 23rd from 9 am to 2 pm.  Admission:  $2 for Adults, Kids free.  Lots of great homemade crafts, decorations, jewelry, baking and unique gift items.  Canteen available.

SERVICES ON NOVEMBER 24 – On November 24th there will be two services, 9:00 am and 4:00 pmTHERE WILL BE NO 10:30 AM SERVICE!  The 4:00 pm service will be in honour of Rev. Michael Conrad’s retirement.  A pot luck will follow the service.

TURKEY SUPPER – Our annual Turkey Supper is being held on November 30th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.  There is a sign up poster at the back of church for donations and volunteer workers.  All donations are greatly appreciated.  For more information please contact Jean at 431-4047 or Linda at 876-0292.

NEXT BREAKFAST BUCKET – Due to the special service on the last Sunday of the month (November 24), our next Breakfast Bucket Sunday will be on December 1st, the first Sunday of that month.

BIBLE STUDY:  The Bible Study Fellowship Group will meet on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  The Book of Exodus is the focus of our study, a significant Book much quoted in the New Testament.  In the fall session, September to December, the Group will meet only on the first Tuesday of the month.  Rev. Ron will be very pleased to see you!

CALENDARS – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group are selling church calendars for 2014.  We have only ordered 50 this year so if you want one please let Wendy know. The calendars have gone up in price so we will be selling them for $6.00.  The calendars are now available.

MISSION TO SEAFARERS – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group will be packing shoeboxes for the seafarers for Christmas again this year.  Items we are looking for are as follows:  warm hats, gloves, personal items such as shaving cream, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, lip balm; hard wrapped candy (no chocolate).  A container to collect the items has been placed in the church porch.  For more information, please contact any member of the group.  We will be packing the shoeboxes on December 7h.

PHOENIX HOUSE CHRISTMAS WISH LIST – The Outreach Committee will be collecting items for Phoenix House for Christmas again this year.  A collection box has been placed at the back of the church by the font.  Some items they are looking for are:  personal items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, razors and shaving cream, etc., towels, facecloths, toys for kids under 5, laundry baskets and things for apartments.  They can also use bus tickets, gift certificates for grocery stores, clothing stores, coffee shops, etc.  Other items such as mittens, scarves, hats, socks and diapers for babies are most welcome.  Phoenix House is requesting that all donations be dropped off by December 11th so the last Sunday for collecting items will be December 8th.  If you require more information, please contact Lorraine MacLellan at 876-7456.

KIDS CHRISTMAS SHOPPING DAY – On December 14h, St. Andrew’s Parish Council will host their 2nd annual Shopping Day for Children.  This will take place in the church hall from 10-12 noon.  There will be tables of items for $5 or less that the children will be able to purchase for gifts for their families and friends.  We are looking for items that can be sold for $1, $2, $3 $4 and $5 or less.  These items should be new but do not have to come from the store.  If you have items lying around that were given to you but you never opened or used, you could donate these to this venture.  Items can be brought in the Sunday before the sale, December 8th and left with any member of council.  Santa Claus will be back this year and your child can have their picture taken with him for free.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING AND CAROL SING – On Sunday, December 15th at 6:30 pm St. Andrew’s Ladies Group will hold their 1st Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing in the church parking lot.  Hot chocolate and goodies will be served in the hall afterwards.

SCENT SENSITIVITY:  Just a reminder that NO SCENTS make GOOD SENSE!  Please be considerate of those in our congregation who have allergies and asthma.  Thank you.

 

ONGOING NOTICES

PWRDF – The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund acts on behalf of the Anglican Church of Canada to provide people around the globe with the ways and means to “help them help themselves”. Information and envelopes are available at the back of the church should you wish to contribute to this worthy ministry.

RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received.  Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office.  There are twenty-four spaces for memorials.  Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque.  If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie.  Thank you for your generosity

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS AND POSTAGE STAMPS – Thank you for your continuing support of two ACW projects:  Postage stamps and Campbell’s soup labels.  The requirement for stamps have been changed:  They no longer have to have ¼” margin of envelope around them; simply tear most of the envelope away, being careful not to tear the stamp.  The soup labels have to be complete and in one piece; that is, with no staples or Scotch tape.

FOOD BANK – The St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Food Bank is always in need of canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, peanut butter, jam, crackers and pudding.  Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
