NEW NOTICES
Diocesan History Book 1710-2010 by Dr. Brian Cuthbertson. The book has finally arrived and is available to those who ordered them for $30 each. Please see Wendy to obtain your copy.
SILENT NIGHT PROJECT – Remember the Amazing Grace Project, the wonderful event that brought many Anglicans together to sing, to make videos, and collect toonies for the ministry of the Council of the North? A short documentary was made and named “Amazing Together”, which won an award for creative excellence at an international film festival in Houston, Texas. The toonie collection exceeded $100,000! The Council of the North used the funds to launch a suicide prevention program, which is now being developed across the northern dioceses.
At General Synod, held in Halifax in the spring, the “Silent Night Project” was introduced. Once again we are asked to contribute a toonie when we sing. At the request of our Primate, Archbishop Fred, all proceeds will go to the Anglican Military Ordinariate, in support of our Armed Forces Chaplains. Church groups across Canada are asked to sing “Silent Night” on the first Sunday of Advent, November 28th and to make a video or take photos to send to the national church. A compilation video will be made and will be on the website by Christmas day.
SLEIGH RIDE – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group will be sponsoring a sleigh ride at Hatfield Farms in January. More information and a sign up poster will be available shortly.
CHURCH ENVELOPES – Church Envelopes are available this morning at the back of the church. Please pick yours up on your way out. If you do not have envelopes and would like a set, please speak to Erica Orlando or phone her at 876-8396.
ADVENT PRAYER VIGIL – The Advent Prayer Vigil will be held on Saturday, November 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the church. Let us gather for 10 hours of continuous prayer bringing local, national and international concerns in both church and society before
God. We would be very pleased to see names in every hourly time block.
INTEGRITY EUCHARIST – The next Integrity Eucharist, followed by refreshments and conversation, will be held on Sunday, November 21st at the Cathedral Church of All Saints at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Canon Eric Beresford, President of AST will be the homilist, and Rev. Stephen Laskey, Christ Church, Dartmouth will preside. Integrity is a national organization of Anglican GLBT persons and their friends formed to encourage Christian GLBT persons in their spiritual lives. Come who you are. Come as you are.
RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received. Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office. There are twenty-four spaces for memorials. Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque. If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie. Thank you for your generosity.
MEN’S BREAKFAST – The next Men’s Breakfast will be held on Saturday, November 27th at 8:00 a.m. Three people are needed to help set up at 7:00 a.m. and four people are required for clean up after the breakfast. Please contact Don Schwartz at 431-4047 or puppadon@hotmail.com if you are able to help.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS – Volunteers are needed to assist with doing the following: a) typing address labels for mail-outs and updating the Parish List; b) organizing the Sides Persons’ Schedules. If you are interested in either of these positions or would like more information, please contact Renee at 876-2275.

Mission to Seafarers – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group is collecting items for the Mission to Seafarers Shoeboxes again this year. A
collection box has been placed in the porch area. Items we are still in need of are as follows: scarves, gloves/mitts, socks, notepaper, envelopes, pens, shampoo, razors, soap, toothpaste, shaving cream, wrapped hard candy. The Mission does not need any women’s items this year and please note that they do not want chocolates or cookies.
Thank you to all that have already given to this worth while outreach project.
Calendars – The 2011 Church calendars are available. Please see Wendy after church to purchase yours. They are $5.00 each.
ONGOING NOTICES
Fall Book Study: This fall the book study group will meet from 2:30 – 3:30 pm on Thursday November 11 and November 25 with Rev. Mike. A question at the forefront for many of us on our Christian journey is: Why does there seem to be so much suffering in the world? One of the great books written in response to this question is When Bad
Things Happen to Good People by Harold S Kushner. It is my hope that our study of this book and our discussions together will lead us, in some way, to a better understanding of this question. Those planning to attend who haven’t already signed up, please see Rev. Mike.
The two Bible Study Fellowship Groups – Monday evenings, 7 pm-8:30 pm (1st, 3rd & 5th), and Tuesday afternoons 2 pm-3:30 pm (1st, 3rd, & 5th) will be studying the Letter to the Hebrews. Hebrews will help us to see how the Old and New Testaments are linked, how they are two parts of the same astonishing story! Rev. Ron will be very pleased to see you! The Tuesday group will meet on November 2, 16 and 30; the Monday group on November 1, 15 and 29.
PWRDF; There are memorial cards for the Primates Fund on the table
at the back of the church. They are self explanatory and a worthwhile way of remembering friends or relatives as this fund assists people around the world.
Soup Labels and Stamps: Thank you for your continuing support. Soup Labels must be whole, and Stamps have a least ¼” of envelope around them.
FOOD BANK – The St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Food Bank is always in need of canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, peanut butter, jam, crackers and pudding. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
