CHURCH CALENDARS – The Church Calendars are in.  Please see Wendy if you would like to purchase one or more.  They sell for $5 each and make great gifts for Christmas or other occasions.  You can also call Wendy at 443-4630 to reserve yours so you won’t be disappointed.

MISSION TO SEAFARERS – St. Andrew’s Ladies Group will be providing shoeboxes for the Mission to Seafarers again this year.  A collection box has been placed in the front porch for donations.  List of items for shoeboxes:  envelopes, writing tablets, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, warm socks, hats, mitts, wrapped hard candy.  For more information contact Wendy at 443-4630.

FIRST WORLD WAR MUSICAL COMES TO BAY AREA ON REMEMBRANCE DAY WEEKEND - St. Luke’s United Church, Upper Tantallon, will perform “Mudsongs” from November 11-13, 2011, a musical about the First World War.  Performance times are Friday, November 11th at 7:30 pm, Saturday, November 12th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, November 13th at 2:30 pm at St. Luke’s United Church, 5374 St. Margaret’s Bay Road, Upper Tantallon.  Tickets are $12 each.  For more information or to book tickets please call 826-2523. LAYREADERS TRAINING EVENT – The Layreaders Training Event scheduled for Saturday, November 19th, has been cancelled.  The cancelled event will be rescheduled sometime early in the new year.  Persons feeling a call to the ministry of Layreader should contact the rector and plan to attend the training events.

MEN’S BREAKFAST – The next Men’s Breakfast will be held on November 26 at 8:00 am.  We are looking for three people to help set up at 7:00 am and four people to help clean up after the breakfast is over.  If you are able to help in any way please call Don at 431-4047 or email at puppadon@hotmail.com.

PHOENIX HOUSE – The Outreach Committee will be collecting for Phoenix House Youth again this year.  A basket will be placed in the back of church for donations on November 13.  Items they are looking for include the following:  bus tickets, stocking stuffers such as shampoo, hand cream, razors, chap stick, socks, mitts, coffee shop certificates in small amounts, etc.  They are also looking for personal care items, blankets, jackets, socks, underwear as well as baby items such as diapers, wipes, toys, baby food and children’s books.  These are just suggestions.  Anything donated will be greatly appreciated.

A NOVA SCOTIA CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONA Nova Scotia Christmas Celebration with Clary Croft and friends will be held at St. Andrew’s on Saturday, November 26.  Ticket information will be available next week.

BIBLE STUDY GROUPS – The Bible Study Groups will meet on Tuesdays, November 1, 15, and 29, at 2 pm – 3:30 pm and 7 pm to 8:30 pm, respectively, as we continue our study of The Acts of the Apostles.  Come and join with us!

BOOK STUDYTwelve Steps to a Compassionate Life
The move of our book study from Thursday to Wednesday afternoon is problematic for several regular members of our group.  Therefore, we will move our study back to the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.  We begin at the usual time of 2 pm.  Our first meeting will be on October 27thBooks will be available next Sunday.  A sign-up sheet is posted at the back of the church.

CD BY ALAN THOMAS – A few CD’s of “Your Favourite Hymn Tunes” by Alan Thomas are still available, at the modest cost of $10.  Please speak with Rev. Ron (475-3212), if you wish to purchase this CD of the great hymns of the Church.  Alan is a most accomplished musician.

ONGOING NOTICES

SIDES PERSONS – We are looking for people to volunteer as sides persons.  A sides person hands out the books and bulletins and greets the people as they arrive for church.  They take up the offertory and after church; they stay and count the offering.  If this is a job you would like to do, please contact Brenda Morash at 876-2389The more volunteers we have the fewer times your name will appear on the roster.

RECTOR’S OFFICE MEMORIALS – Memorial donations towards the construction costs of the Rector’s office are now being received.  Donations in the amount of $110.00 ($100 plus $10 engraving) will allow contributors to place a memorial on a plaque to be located outside the office.  There are twenty-four spaces for memorials.  Once all spaces have been filled we will dedicate the office in memory of those identified on the plaque.  If you wish to make a donation, please see either Rev. Mike or Rev. Judie.  Thank you for your generosity

PWRDF; There are memorial cards for the Primates Fund on the table at the back of the church.  They are self explanatory and a worthwhile way of remembering friends or relatives as this fund assists people around the world.

CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS AND POSTAGE STAMPSCHRISTMAS GREETINGS will soon be arriving in the mail.  Please remember to save the stamps that come on your cards.  A reminder:  There must be ¼ inch of envelope surrounding the stamp.

FOOD BANK – The St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Food Bank is always in need of canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, peanut butter, jam, crackers and pudding.  They are currently running short on the following food items:  boxes of cereal, cookies, and jello. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
