Rectors Report
August 26th, 2012
I met with Archdeacon, Mark Kingsbury, on Wednesday morning. As I prepare to take leave of my duties as Regional Dean effective August 31st, this meeting was a debriefing of my time as Regional Dean, as well as a time to tie up loose ends and plan for the future.
I was pleased to meet with the Administration Committee on Wednesday night. In addition to Brenda Morash, chair of the Admin. Comm. and Bev Hanley who sits on the committee, Rev. Marilyn, Jinny Giza and Wendy Wells also attended. I asked them to be present as one of the items for discussion was making plans for back to church Sunday. Plans are proceeding well and we look forward to great celebration. Who will you invite?
I was pleased to have a wonderful visit with Rev. Ron Walker on Thursday morning. We chatted over a Tim Horton's coffee. It was wonderful to see him and remind him that he always has a home here at St. Andrew's.
Marian and I were happy to host a number of the rectors from the region to our home for a barbecue on Friday. It was good to share a meal together, to talk casually about our parishes, and to enjoy one another's company.
Rev. Marilyn is attending the Vocations Conference this weekend. She was asked by Bishop Ron Cutler to make presentations and assist him in what is an initial step for those discerning a call to ordained ministry.
Following services today I will be on vacation. I will return to the parish on September 11th. During my absence Rev. Judie will be doing Sunday services and will be on call for pastoral emergencies. Her phone number is 446-0229.
If you want to know what the body of Christ is hear what the Apostle Paul tells believers: "You are Christ's body and its members." If, the you, are Christ's body and its members, it is your symbol that lies on the lord's altar - what you receive is a symbol of yourself. When you say 'amen' to what you are, you are affirming it. You hear the priest say 'the body of Christ' and you answer 'amen' and you must be the body of Christ to make that amen take affect.
St. Augustine, Sermon #272
May each of you continue your Christian witness accepting Jesus' invitation to "follow me." Imitating Christ may each us be a blessing to God purpose among God's people.
Enjoy these days of summer!!! See you all in a couple of weeks.
Blessings
Rev. Mike
