Rector's Weekly Report
June 5th, 2011

We enjoyed a wonderful service celebrating youth last month as our young people led our morning worship and the St. Margaret's Bay Boys Honour Choir joined us to take part in our music ministry. We give thanks for our "youth" again this morning with the celebration of Holy Baptism and the closing of Sunday School for a summer break. Special thanks to our Sunday School teachers, Heather Campbell, Nicole Chenell, Jo-Anne Rectorand Kimberley Wells. Thanks also to Nancy Michalko who has worked with our Sunday School in a music ministry. I look forward to the resumption of Sunday School in September when we will introduce an exciting new curriculum called "Spark." This is a lectionary based curriculum that offers many options and ideas on how to present Christian Education to our young people.

I was pleased to meet with Rev. Judie and our postulant, Marilyn Hamlin, on Wednesday morning. It is a time for us to organize schedules to make sure that we are providing pastoral care to parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes, and in homes. It is also an opportunity to discuss ideas for worship and plan services. I give thanks for Rev. Judie and Marilyn's ministry. Please note that Rev. Judie has asked for a well deserved summer vacation to enjoy time at her trailer with Bill and other members of her family and friends. I would ask that we honour her request by allowing Judie this down time free of any obligation to the parish.

I was pleased to meet with the wardens to continue preparations for the Parish Council retreat scheduled for Saturday, June 11th. Everyone is welcome to attend what we hope will be an informative event that will assist in our mission to serve our congregation and Christ's Church.

I was pleased to meet with several parishioners in my office this week as well as attend to two home visits.

A REMINDER - Our worship next Sunday celebrates the Day of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit. If possible wear something "red" next week in recognition of Pentecost. Set our church on fire as we celebrate the Holy Spirit among us. It's the Church's birthday......so there will be cake.     Come out and enjoy this event in the life of the church.

May your life, what you say and do, be a blessing to God's holy name.

Rev. Mike
