Rectors Report
Week Ending March 21st, 2010

The Prayer Over the Gifts this morning begins with the words, "Merciful God, you have called us to your table and fed us with the bread of life." What a wonderful message those few words relay to us. A message, for us as Christians, that God accepts us, invites us and nourishes us so as to foster a relationship with God though our Lord Jesus Christ. We are called likewise, as imitators of Christ, to offer our own acceptance, invitation and encouragement to one another as we strive to build up the body of Christ, his Church.

In that mission I have been pleased to act on behalf of the parish this week as I attended the weekly Prayer Group, participated in our mid-week Lenten Eucharist, attended to two pastoral visits and completed six visits to members from our community who are in hospital. God calls us together in community not just on Sunday mornings but every day and every hour of our lives. It is always a pleasure for me to be able to take the best wishes and prayers of our community to those who because of illness or, who for other reasons, may not be able to worship with us. Likewise it is important to see one another in the ordinary times of our daily lives because there we have opportunity to see and represent Christ in the lives of one another.

It was good to be accepted, on Saturday morning at the Men's Breakfast. It was good that the invitation was extended and was good fed both by the food that we ate and the fellowship we shared.

At this Eucharist this morning, you are accepted, invited and fed. As we continue our Lenten practice to renew and strengthen our relationship with God I invite you to remember those three words not only with our minds but with our actions.
Blessings
