Rector's Weekly Report

Who do you say that I am? Jesus posed that question to his disciples. Last Sunday morning I was asking people about the variety show that was to take place later that evening. I was told, you will see who we really are. Boy! Was I surprised!! Let me add, however, I'm glad to get to know you. Thank you so much for the organizers, entertainers and all who were responsible for a wonderful show. Laughter and fellowship are indeed important ministries and your efforts last week succeeded on all counts. Well done!
On Tuesday evening the Property Committee met to discuss ongoing maintenance concerns, upcoming projects like the renovations to our washrooms in our hall, as well as matters regarding the property at St. Luke's. At that meeting Ken Richardson tendered his resignation as chair of the property committee. Ken has chaired this committee for two years during which time he has organized and worked on the management and upkeep of our property. He spent tireless hours working on the kitchen renovations. On behalf of the parish I express my sincere thanks to Ken for his efforts. Jaime Wile has assumed the role of property committee for the upcoming year. Also as a result of the meeting the property committee has asked Doug Gillett to begin a needs assessment of our parish to facilitate a visioning process to identify the requirements of our property to meet present and future ministries which we might wish to undertake.
I was pleased to meet with the Prayer Group on Wednesday morning. I was also pleased to meet with Rev. Judie. Wednesday evening, there was no snow storm, so our regular midweek Eucharist took place.
I was pleased attend to one home communion, make one hospital visit, and attend to several pastoral matters in the parish office.
I am pleased to note also that our new warden, Lloyd Miller, is making an effort to 'green up' our act here in the parish. Lloyd is encouraging recycling, composting, and other measures which will help us make a step toward diminishing our carbon footprint. We need to work with Lloyd in this endeavour. Also a reminder that next Saturday, March 28th, from 8:30 - 9:30 is earth hour. During this time everyone is encouraged to turn off the lights in their homes as a sign of our commitment to the environment. It is a small step, but if it makes us aware of the need to protect God's creation it will be most worthwhile.
May you be blessed in the week ahead and may your journey through this season of Lent continue to strengthen your relationship with our Lord

Blessings,
Rev. Mike
