November 4th, 2012

We give thanks to God for the gift of the Holy Spirit that it may strengthen the following who are candidates for Holy Confirmation:
Timmy Campbell        Riley Brown
Kira Chenell               Rebecca Chenell         Alec Collier
Andrew Collier           Nicholas Fewer          Samantha Fewer
Keara Martell             Nicole Pinsent            Noah Rector
Emma Rhymes           Evan (JT) Rhymes     Sean Patrick Riles
Emily Scott
Please pray for these individuals as they prepare for Holy Confirmation on November 30th

On our day's off this week Marian and I travelled to Fredericton to visit with her mom who is resident in a nursing home.

I was pleased to meet with the warden's on Wednesday morning to prepare for this week's meeting of Parish Council. I later met with Rev. Judie as we prepared the bulletin and liturgy for the All Souls Day Service on Friday night.

I was pleased to visit parishioners in their home on Thursday morning. In the afternoon I spent time developing the Confirmation Program that will be offered to candidates at a workshop next Saturday morning.

I met with Rev. Judie and Rev. Marilyn on Friday morning to set up a pastoral care schedule and to discuss the upcoming Confirmation Program. Both Rev. Judie and Rev. Marilyn will assist me at the workshop on Saturday.

Regrets for not being able to be at the All Soul's Day Service on Friday evening. Something I ate for lunch did not agree with me and Friday evening I found myself under the weather. Many thanks to everyone who took part and attended this service.

I  have a number of copies of a book called Telling Your Story which was the work of our Diocesan Planned Giving committee and is available to parishes at a cost of $8.00 per copy.  This book provides valuable information about estate planning, personal care directives and funeral arrangements.

Anglican Women of the Parish - a night of faith, food and fellowship. I have posted a notice in the entry way for this event scheduled for November 6th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending see details on the poster.

Book Study Group - I invite those wising to participate in the book study group to pick up a copy of the book Heaven is For Real. It is available at most book stores. Chapters, in Bayer's Lake, had a number of copies available on Friday. I invite you to read the book and come together to discuss it as we gather on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. on November 15th and November 29th. I would also be willing to host an evening gathering on November 29th if there is interest shown by others unavailable to attend the afternoon gatherings. I have placed a sign-up sheet at the back of church for you to indicate your interest in attending either the afternoon or evening sessions.

May each of us feel the call to imitate our Lord, in word and action in the week ahead so that our lives may be a blessing to God's holy name.

Rev. Mike
