Rectors Weekly Report

A special welcome this morning to Rev. David Dellapina who will deliver this morning's homily. David and his wife Bev have agreed to take a leadership role with our confirmation candidates. Special welcome also to all the candidates who are here this morning to begin their journey of discernment and discovery for what God is calling them to through the sacrament of Holy Confirmation.

The Prayer Group met on Wednesday morning. Prayers were offered in the context of Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer. All are welcome to join and participate in this weekly prayer. Also if you or someone you know wants to be included in the prayers of the Prayer Group please let me know.

I met with Renee Fraser on Wednesday morning to discuss outreach initiatives for our parish. With the approach of Christmas we turn our attention to White Gift Sunday, Phoenix House and the Mission to Seafarers gift boxes. Details of these projects will be given during announcement times on Sunday.

Wednesday afternoon I met with a number of clergy from the region to follow up on business arising from our recent Regional Council meeting.

On Thursday morning Marilyn Hamlin accompanied me to the hospitals where we administered Holy Communion to two of our congregation who are patients in hospital. In her training for preparation for ordination to the Vocational Diaconate Marilyn will get hands on experience in the duties and role of a deacon.

The finance committee met on Thursday evening and will report to the next meeting of Parish Council.

The Worship Committee met on Friday morning to make plans for Advent and to look at possible events for 2011. Advent will mark the beginning of a new year in the Church. We will begin to prepare for Advent with a Prayer Vigil on Saturday, November 27th. Rev. Ron is taking leadership for the vigil and will have sign up sheets and directions for those who participate.

I hope you have all looked into the recently completed Rectors office. What a wonderful addition to our facilities!! We are inviting people to make a memorial donation towards the cost of construction. A plaque with the names of contributors and memorials will be located outside the office. Cost to make a donation is $110.00. This covers the cost of engraving plus a donation of $100.00. Please see the rector or Rev. Judie is you would like to make a contribution.

Blessings
Rev. Mike
