Rectors Weekly Report

If we say only prayer in our lifetime let it be "Thank you God."      - Meister Eckhart

Let us give thanks for the life and witness of Gladys Boutilier whose funeral liturgy we celebrated at St. Peter's, Hackett's Cove, on Friday morning.

Let us give thanks the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, and the gift of love, as we pray for Haleigh Wears and Kevin Matheson who were united in marriage at St. Andrew's Church on Saturday afternoon.

Let us give thanks for the bounty of God's good earth, provided to sustain and nourish us.

Let us give thanks for all who are gathered here this morning, for God's people around the world, and for the bonds which unite all of us.

Let us give thanks for caring and generous hearts as we remember our ministry at St. George's soup kitchen.

Let us give thanks  ...................

The Bishop will be in our parish in March of 2011. Confirmation classes will begin on Sunday, November 7th, to prepare candidates for confirmation at that time. Registration forms are available at the back of the church. Those wishing to be confirmed should be a minimum twelve years of age at the time of confirmation. If you have any questions please speak to the rector.

This morning we welcome back our organist, Edith Steffens, who has been on extended leave as she and her husband Jim enjoyed a vacation travelling across Canada and the United States. Choir practice resumed Wednesday night and we look forward to and give thanks for the music ministry in our parish. Those of you with singing voices, or who like me make a joyful noise, are invited to come out on Wednesday night for practice and join our choir.

We have a three people in hospital at this time. I was pleased to visit them on Thursday. Keep all who are in hospital or nursing homes in your prayers and give thanks for the care that they receive.

I had occasion to meet with a number of parishioners in my office this week. As mentioned I intend to keep regular office hours on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you need to meet with me at the office or in your home please know that that I would be glad to arrange a convenient time with you.

Our bishops have sent a pastoral letter to all parishes regarding the topic of human sexuality, especially in relation to same-sex relationships. I have posted several copies of the letter at the back of the church and invite you familiarize yourself with this dioceses current position on the subject. If you would like your own copy of the letter please see the rector and one will be provided. Any questions or comments should be directed to the rector. I encourage you to make yourself aware of where we, as a diocese, stand with regards to this issue.

Thanks be to God !!!!

Blessings
Rev. Mike
