This past Thursday, October 18th, was the feast day of St. Luke the Evangelist. For many years the former St. Luke's Church in Lakeside was a sister church to St. Andrew's, part of the parish of Timberlea-Lakeside. At a meeting held in December of 2008 the congregation bravely decided to discontinue services at St. Luke's and to join their brothers and sisters here at St. Andrew's. This morning, recognizing the feast day of St. Luke, let us remember the good ministry that was conducted at St. Luke's giving thanks for the faithful witness of that congregation. Let us also give thanks for the promise of the resurrection as evidenced by the new life that former members have experienced here at St. Andrew`s and that all of us have experienced through them.

This past Wednesday I attended the monthly meeting of regional clericus in Fall River. On Thursday evening Regional Council met here at St. Andrew`s. Following this meeting I was able to pass over the last of my responsibilities as Regional Dean to the Rev. Tammy Hodge who has been newly appointed to that position. A box full of binders and books will be going to Tammy this week, an unburdening of my office which also gave me good cause to do a good cleaning and rearranging of my office space.

I was pleased to do have the opportunity to talk with several parishioners throughout the week, in the office, in their homes and by phone. As I have said before if you have something you would like to see me about let me know and I will make your request a priority.

Anglican Women of the Parish - a night of faith, food and fellowship. I have posted a notice in the entry way for this event scheduled for November 6th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending see details on the poster.

As we begin a new week let us pray for our hearts open to our Lord`s presence among us, minds to learn and understand his passion for peace, justice and equality, and wills to make those things part of our daily lives. In so doing may we become, ever more, a blessing to God`s holy name.
