Rectors Weekly Report

The Bishop will be in our parish on March 6th of 2011. Confirmation classes will begin on Sunday, November 7th, to prepare candidates for confirmation at that time. Registration forms are available at the back of the church. Those wishing to be confirmed should be a minimum twelve years of age at the time of confirmation. If you have any questions please speak to the rector.
I am very pleased that the Rev. David Dellapina and his wife Bev have agreed to take leadership of the confirmation program. David's gifts as a priest in our diocese and Bev's gifts as a teacher bode well for a great confirmation class.

I was pleased to meet with the wardens on Wednesday evening to prepare for Parish Council. Parish Council met on Thursday evening. Please keep our warden's Lloyd Miller and Renee Fraser as well as all members of Parish Council in your prayers. I am encouraged by the dedication of our council to the work of building up this parish and Christ's Church in this community.

I ask your prayers also for Doug Gillett who has discerned a call to the ministry of a Layreader. Doug is now attending monthly training sessions for discerning Layreaders in the Region of Fort Sackville. At Parish Council on Thursday night Doug was affirmed in his discernment process.

We began our study of the book When Bad Things Happen to Good People by Harold Kushner. This is a well read book that grapples with the question suggested in it's title, a question I might add that is on the lips of many of us today. I hope our study will offer some new insights, possibly even some new hopes about the world we live in and our place and role in it. The book study takes place in the Fellowship Room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month between 2:30- 3:30 p.m. All are welcome!!

I was pleased to catch the last part of Rev. Ron's workshop on the ministry of those Proclaim the Word of the Lord as readers at our worship services. Rev. Ron's presentation which highlighted the scriptural call to proclaim God's word signifies the importance of this ministry. Many thanks to Rev. Ron, to those who attended the Saturday workshop, and to all who serve in this ministry in our parish.

Blessings in the week ahead.

Rev. Mike
