I was pleased to have Wednesday and Friday mornings in my office to deal with e-mails, phone calls and other correspondence. I am pleased to welcome parishioners at the office at any time. On Wednesday afternoon I was at the Diocesan Office to pick up Baptismal Certificates and Confirmation Certificates. I also picked up a number of copies of a booklet entitled Telling Your Story which was the work of our Diocesan Planned Giving committee and is available to parishes at a cost of $8.00 per copy. This book provides valuable information about estate planning, personal care directives and funeral arrangements. It is a great resource. I have a limited supply of these books available. One point that the book makes that I particularly encourage is that your first contact in planning a funeral should be your parish priest. Know that I will gladly make meet with you to help with your planning.
I spent Thursday at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Lochs Road, Dartmouth. I was there as part of a team conducting a Pre-Ordination Assessment of a candidate for Holy Orders.
It was a pleasure, as always, to attend the Men's Breakfast on Saturday morning. Food and fellowship is the order of these gatherings and we give thanks for those who prepare the food, those who set up and clean up and for those who attend. Much of the gospel is centred around Jesus together with friends sharing a meal.
I was pleased to have the opportunity to make a number of connections by phone and in person with parishioners on behalf of the parish this week.

Anglican Women of the Parish - a night of faith, food and fellowship. I have posted a notice in the entry way for this event scheduled for November 6th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in attending see details on the poster.
Book Study Group - I invite those wising to participate in the book study group to pick up a copy of the book Heaven is For Sure. It is available at most book stores. Chapters, in Bayer's Lake, had a number of copies available on Friday. I invite you to read the book and come together to discuss it as we gather on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. on November 15th and November 29th. I would also be willing to host an evening gathering on November 29th if there is interest shown by others unavailable to attend the afternoon gatherings. I have placed a sign-up sheet at the back of church for you to indicate your interest in attending either the afternoon or evening sessions.
May each of us feel the call to imitate our Lord, in word and action in the week ahead so that our lives may be a blessing to God's holy name.
Rev. Mike
